Memoir: Making Art From Life – A Winter Writing Circle

Join us for a writing workshop to tap your creative spirit and help you focus on meaningful periods and events of your life. You will learn to craft memories into prose or poems, through lively writing exercises and group discussions. Writing tools and prompts will help participants discover and explore their stories and distill the essence of experience. Memoir writing leads to deep self-reflection, as well as purposeful direction, and a greater sense of well-being as you explore the perplexing, humorous, nostalgic, and challenging experiences of your life. Give voice to those untold stories, and watch your life take on a new shape in this supportive, fun writing workshop. No writing experience necessary!

Facilitator Bio:
Laurie McMillan has an MFA in fiction and has led writing workshops for 21 years in all genres. She was the co-founder of the Pittsburgh Memoir Workshop, and several workshop series in venues as diverse as art museums, outpatient clinics, and at the VA. She believes that creativity and community in a safe and supportive environment can help writers do their best work. She is published in several magazines including American Journal of Nursing and the Healing Muse.

Pop Up Art Workshop-Doggie Mix Up!

Spring Cooking with Moira

Moira will virtually lead the group to create (breads/soups/treats) using the stove top and/or oven, and sometimes the microwave. Recipes will be basic but will require use of different utensils and ingredients. Adult supervision is required. Teen Advisory Board!

Teen Advisory Board (“TAB” for short) is a group of teens that meets once a month on ZOOM. The TAB works with library staff to improve events, space, and collection that we offer to teens. Take ownership of these services and help us create the library that you want to see! Earth Day Project for Families, Youth & Teens!

If you’re looking for a fun way to both celebrate Earth Day safely and help your community, pick up a reusable bag (Thank you to Nashawannuck Pond Steering Committee! They donated our Beautiful Nashawannuck Pond Reusable Bags!) from the Youth/Teen Department any day of the week between April 19th-22nd. Organize a litter pickup with your family and friends. Walk around your neighborhood or community and pick up any litter that you see, and recycle or dispose of what you gather. Visit the Library to let us know when you’ve finished, and we’ll enter you into enter a raffle to win an Ice Cream Pie from Mt. Tom’s Homemade Ice Cream! Winner will be contacted Monday, April 25th.
