Come join Patti for a fun book club discussion of the graphic novel, Crush, by Svetlana Chmakova. Registration encouraged, ages 7+.
During this special four week workshop designed for youth ages 9 and up, participants will join Lisa Bastoni, award-winning folk singer and songwriter, to learn about a variety of song forms and elements, and work collaboratively and individually to turn their own experiences into songs! Participants should register in advance, planning to come to each of the four weekly sessions: Sign up at the library in person or by calling us at 413-527-1031 or emailing us at youthdept@ewmlibrary.org.

Attend one or both! Please RSVP at tinyurl.com/epl-adult-songwriting so we have an idea of how many folks will be attending. Recommended but not required.
Participants will listen to a few classic examples of powerfully vivid songwriting, and will generate ideas for new songs using a variety of writing exercises. No songwriting experience is required. Participants will be invited to share songs in process, time permitting.
Lisa Bastoni is a Northampton, MA-based singer-songwriter who has enjoyed a longtime presence in the northeast folk/Americana scene. She is a 2021 New England Music Award nominee (Roots), 2020 & 2019 Boston Music Award Nominee (Folk) and winner of 2019 New Folk at the esteemed Kerrville Folk Festival. In addition to her work in music, Lisa Bastoni is an accomplished visual artist and teacher, and mother to two young children. For more info, visit www.lisabastoni.com

Homeslice Puppetry will be here to run this more advanced version of a run-of-the-mill Sock Puppet class. This class teaches the basics of creating a puppet character, all the elements essential for this, and how to turn that into a puppet. Then students will learn to build a mouth plate and by using this plate as well as some foam for a “skull”, they will give their puppets a much greater range of motion and movement than an average sock puppet. Students will then proceed to create their characters and build their puppets bringing their socks to life! Ages 7 and up. Registration is required–register at the library in person or by calling us at 413-527-1031 or emailing us at youthdept@ewmlibrary.org.

Molly is a Bright Spot Therapy Dog who likes to hear stories and look at the pictures. We will have sign ups for 10 minute slots with her as a reading buddy. Sign up for a timeslot here in person or by calling us at 413-527-1031 or emailing us at youthdept@ewmlibrary.org.

**Out of an abundance of caution, the Lonesome Brothers Concert is CANCELLED for tonight (7/14). We have RESCHEDULED for next Friday (7/21) at 6:30pm**
Come celebrate summer and local music with us on the Library Lawn! Happening rain or shine. In the event of rain, we will move the concert indoors.
“The Bros combine the best elements of American music with the raw honesty of their natural and totally believable lyrics. There’s real poetry here in the writing of Ray Mason and Jim Armenti that evokes the best of Hank Williams or Chuck Berry – a down-home conversational style that tells a story with vivid insight into the human condition.” –Paul Burton, Music Revue

This program was funded in part by Emily’s Friends of the Library.
Come see Ed the Wizard out on the library lawn! Full of comedy and suspense, be prepared to volunteer and enjoy this family friendly interactive magic performance.
