The Easthampton Council on Aging Book Club meets at the Council on Aging every other month on the third Thursday, from 2 – 3:30pm. We provide copies of each title for participants to check out. Read the book and drop-in at the ECOA for the discussion. Visit the ECOA Book Club page for a list of dates and titles, with links to each in the catalog.

Molly is a Bright Spot Therapy Dog who likes to hear stories and look at the pictures. We will have sign ups for 10 minute slots with her as a reading buddy. Sign up for a timeslot here in person or by calling us at 413-527-1031 or emailing us at youthdept@ewmlibrary.org.

Join Nancy for a presentation and showing of birdwatching materials (binoculars, bird guides, etc.), then go outside together to listen and see what birds you can find. This program is happening rain or shine. In the event of bad weather, Nancy will lead a bird-friendly/birdwatching craft.

Nancy Stenberg has been an avid birdwatcher since she was 10 years old. She was inspired by the novel Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach. She enjoys her work as an elementary school librarian, and is a proud mother and grandmother.

Learn about amazing creatures! Experts in reptile care will teach us about their habits and habitats, as well as what makes them different from each other. Meet live animals from the Nook–they might even let you feel their scaly skin! This free forum will take place on September 27th in Wilson Hall at Westfield State University. The forum
begins at 6:30 PM, preceded by a reception and informational exhibits starting at 5:45 PM.

The Forum’s goal is to highlight existing MA and federal clean energy incentives for individuals, homeowners, renters, businesses, municipalities and nonprofits. Attendees will learn how to access these federal and state tax-based incentives that are available for implementing cleaner means of heating and cooling, transportation, energy efficient appliances, and whole-building energy efficiency.

The speakers panel will include special opening remarks by Hampden County DA Anthony Gulluni, MA State Senator Paul Mark, MA Climate Chief Jonathan Schrag, CEO of Dean’s Beans Organic Coffee Beth Spong, and CEO of Green Energy Consumer Alliance Larry Chretien.

This event is being organized by the Pioneer Valley Library Collaborative (PVLC) and its community partner, Voices for Climate (V4C) in conjunction with WSU’s Department of Geography, Planning and Sustainability. The Collaborative’s intention is to be a hub of climate education and conversation. It includes the public libraries of: Agawam, Granville, Westfield, Northampton, Southwick, Tolland, West Springfield, Easthampton, Williamstown, and Westhampton.
