Around the World: Stories & Instruments!

Local storyteller Dr. Gail N. Herman returns to share some of her favorite treasures from around the world. She’ll show off instruments she’s collected from other countries, and then you’ll help perform multicultural stories using those instruments to create sound effects! At the end of the program, you can find what inspired you and work with the Library’s Storytelling & Writing Group — led by Gail — to write down a story of your own. Registration required. For ages 4 and up (parent participation suggested for ages 6 and under).

Shake, Rattle, & Read with the Eric Carle Museum!

Rock out with Carle educators in this program celebrating music and dance! Families will enjoy an interactive storytime followed by opportunities to move, play, and explore art materials. Registration required. Recommended for ages 2 and up.

YSRP Final Event Cookout featuring Liam Hurley!

Join us to celebrate the end of another rockin’ reading program! Participants who read 12 hours or more during the summer are eligible to come to this event at Nonotuck Park. The first hour will feature games, activities, and food, followed by a rock ‘n’ roll story time with local musician Liam Hurley. Registration is required — when you sign up, please let us know if you are able to bring any sides, snacks, drinks, or dessert to share (we’ll provide the main course). All ages are welcome!

Artists in Action: Metalworking with Heather Beck

The Library is excited to welcome local artist Heather Beck to kick off a brand new programming series just for teens! Artists in Action will feature a new artist and new medium every month, providing students from grades 7-12 with the opportunity to try out projects that normally require a little bit of know-how before getting started.

Space is limited, so if you or someone you know would like to participate, please contact the Library to register!

Not Another Teen Movie Night

Join us for a new ongoing series of movie screenings just for our teen patrons. This month we’re viewing CRAZY RICH ASIANS!

We will show a different movie each month, with those in attendance helping to pick out what to watch next.

For grades 7-12. Admission is FREE and refreshments will be provided!

Artists in Action: Auto-Bio Comics with Grace Demarais!

Celebrate Free Comic Book Day with us by welcoming local artist Grace Demarais! Grace will lead us as we practice our cartooning skills, using our own lives as inspiration.
