Come learn about the history and hidden costs of single-use plastic. Explore cost-saving solutions and simple lifestyle changes that can help usher in a culture of reuse. Gifts of reusable silverware, storage jars, water bottles, travel mugs, and tea infusers will be provided.

Through Culture of Reuse Enterprises, PJ Niver works to develop community awareness of the social, economic, and environmental impacts of our current single-use culture. Culture of Reuse provides direct support through tools, resource sharing and skill development to help individuals and communities acquire and sustain new habits to adopt a reuse lifestyle.

Inaugural Easthampton Poet Laureate Gary Metras will be reading a selection from his three most recent books: White Storm, Captive in the Here, and River Voice.

Gary Metras’s new books of poetry are River Voice (Adastra Press, 2019), Captive in the Here (Cervena Barva Press 2018), and White Storm (Presa Press 2018), short-listed for the Mass. Poetry Book of the Year by the Mass. Center for the Book. The author of seventeen previous collections of poetry, his poems have appeared in over 250 journals, including America, The Common, Poetry, Poetry East, and Poetry Salzburg Review. He lives in Easthampton, Massachusetts, where he was inducted as the city’s inaugural Poet Laureate in April 2018. He is past president of the Pioneer Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited, the national cold river conservation non-profit. A retired educator, he fly fishes the rivers of western Mass. as often as possible.

Join us on the first Saturday of every month for a project utilizing skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Each month features a new topic, such as mazes, magnets, slime, catapults, and more. Drop in any time between 10:00-11:00am to do these hands-on projects and experiments. Bring a friend and make new discoveries each week! Recommended for ages 6 and up.
