Read, be read to, or read to someone! Join us for our SRP at The Emily Williston Memorial Library! Sign up starts Monday, June 27th and runs through August 8th. This Summer is packed with events, programs, special guests, and raffles! All you have to do is register and keep track of your time! Something for everyone! More information will be coming!

Join us for simple step-by-step tutorials to fold your own origami masterpieces! Recommended for ages 10 & up. Space is limited, so please register at the Library.

This session is for teens and adults. Registration is required. In-person with a max of 24 participants. Click here to register.

Julie will be teaching campfire songs on the ukulele! No experience necessary. She’ll teach participants how to hold, strum, fret and read chord diagrams – everything one needs to know in order to play the ukulele. Bring your own ukulele or use one of Julie’s.

Join local artist Dave Wallace (incendavery.com) this summer, to experiment with some of his favorite forms of artistic media! Learn tips and tricks for using specific supplies, and practice bringing your imagination to life through the colors you put on a page! All supplies will be provided — no experience necessary. Space is limited for this in-person event, so please contact the Youth Department to register. Recommended for ages 10 and up.

Crimson Canary is BACK and playing a lovely evening concert for us on the Library lawn. They will be performing classic vocals from the 40s, 50s and 60s in several languages. Bring a blanket or chair, relax, and let the music move you! (Rain date Friday, August 5th, 6-7pm)

Crimson Canary consists of guitarist/vocalist David Chu and vocalist Lonnie Chu, known for their vintage music sung in various languages. They also perform and educate about flamenco music.

David Chu began his music career as a teen playing piano and percussion, but soon switched to guitar. An accomplished soloist, he provides accompaniment and is the group’s arranger and composer. He delights audiences with the variety of genres he plays on either guitar, including flamenco, jazz, blues, Brazilian, and even Beatles.

Lonnie Chu, manager and singer, has also played folk guitar and bluegrass mandolin and enjoys singing in various languages and genres. A retired professor of Spanish, she delights in teaching audiences how to participate in flamenco’s rhythmic hand-clapping (palmas).

Come hang out after hours at the Library, and play some games with your friends! We’ll have a broad selection of board games to choose from, and our Nintendo Switch will be set up to play any of the games in our collection.

Anyone interested in tabletop roleplaying should attend as well, for an introduction to a new gaming opportunity coming to the Library!

Food and drink will be available for those who feel comfortable with it.

Welcome in Fall with this simple recipe using an oat and nut mixture to make a crunchy granola-like topping for apples in this delicious dessert. We will be using the stove top and/or oven. Recipes will be basic but will require use of different utensils and ingredients. Adult supervision is required. Teen Advisory Board (“TAB” for short) is a group of teens that meets once a month on ZOOM. The TAB works with library staff to improve events, space, and collection that we offer to teens. Take ownership of these services and help us create the library that you want to see! Dave will lead participants through exercises that incorporate free writing, character creation, and scripting, before helping us put it all together into a finished comic. Join the Emily Williston Memorial Library Chess Club! The club will start from square one. Everyone can join. If you are an expert or a beginner, come check it our. Learn the real rules and how to use all of your pieces. Study famous games and learn winning strategies to improve your play. Space is limited. Register at the Youth/Teen Department. Ages 9+ (Children below 9 need to be accompanied by an adult).
